About this coffee

First Fruits takes its name from the harvest's first and finest, offered in gratitude rather than held back. It's grown by 85 women of Asobombo, a growers' association in Huila, Colombia, founded by Luis Alfredo Diaz for better market access and fairer, steadier prices.

Asobombo's Women's Group reinvests premiums from lots like this one into their farms, equipment, and learning: nutrition, resource planning, new techniques for improving the cup.

Grown organically at origin — their best, offered so someone else's cup can be better too.

How this coffee changes with roast

First Fruits changes a great deal depending on how far you take the roast. We roast it light, to keep it bright.

At light roasts it leans into tangerine and tropical fruit over a base of honey and red apple, and stays bright and juicy. At medium, the tropical fruit rounds out into maple syrup sweetness, with red apple and raspberry lifting the cup alongside turbinado sugar and almond. At medium-dark, that sweetness turns to dark brown sugar and a marzipan-like nuttiness, with stewed red apple behind it. Taken dark, roasted walnut and dark chocolate take over. The same coffee, now deep and nutty instead of bright and juicy.
